Panel cutters cut a 1-3/8" reveal, plus a 3/8" long tongue
When working with 3/4" stock and using the full depth of the cutter, a 5/8" panel raiser will leave the face of the panel flush with the door frame and a back cut of 1/8" will be required to end up with a 1/4" tongue. Working with a 3/4" panel raiser at the full depth, the face of the panel will be proud of the door frame 1/8" and no back cut will be required.
